Horses can benefit from electrolyte support all year long due to various reasons: strenuous exercise, in stressful situations, or extreme weather conditions -- hot and humid weather during the summer or cold and icy weather during the winter. When a horse sweats, it loses water along with vital minerals such as sodium, chloride, potassium, calcium and magnesium.

Both sodium and chloride are required to help regulate all body fluids and maintain muscle function due to their involvement in nerve activity. Without replenishing these electrolytes, it can wreak havoc on the body and cause overheating and compromise overall health and performance.

Unlike many other nutrients in the body, electrolytes are not readily stored and are excreted if not needed, so its paramount that electrolytes lost in sweat are replaced for a day or two after the activity. Apple-Dex electrolyte supplement replaces electrolytes lost through sweat during exercise, training or competition.

It supports normal electrolyte and mineral balance, and helps encourage healthy water intake during extreme weather conditions and in times of stress. This apple-flavored, sodium-based equine electrolyte is ideal for daily use in your horses grain ration.
