With whorls of delicate forked leaves on slender stems in rich shades of bright to olive-green, this rootless perennial rejuvenates any aquarium or pond while offering a myriad of benefits. These naturally beautiful pond and live freshwater aquarium plants also improve water quality by providing pond oxygen and removing excess nutrients from water while also controlling algae growth.

Live aquarium plants freshwater hornwort are commonly used for cover in aquariums, such as an aquaponic fish tank or breeding tank, to provide shelter for small invertebrates, fish, and offspring. Utilize aquarium hornwort as fish aquarium decoration plants to create a gorgeous aquarium background for fish tank accessories, including rocks, driftwood, coral, ornaments, and more.

A live hornwort plant can also be floated at the bottom of a pond using an anchor, providing a screen of foliage for fish to hide from predators. You can position a hornwort aquatic plant in a tub garden or plant in a shallow pot of gravel to anchor in a desired location of your pond.

No special equipment or knowledge is necessary when growing hornwort as it grows easily and vigorously, even in low-light setups, although more light may promote faster and more dense growth. Hornwort pond plants are hardy to zone 5 and over-winters on pond bottoms. We recommend using 1 to 2 bunches per square foot of water surface area.

For best growing results, plant in areas with full sun to part shade in water that is 1 to 10 feet deep. Our plants are kept in a plant-dedicated water tank rather than plastic packaging so your plants will arrive bright and in top condition.
